The story broke on various gay blogs with headlines like “Gay high school student suspended for doing porn” and “School principal denies student his right to graduate due to porn work”. Some of Noel’s fellow students at Cocoa High staged protests and showed support on Facebook, presumably because they thought he was being punished for being gay (Noel insists he is straight). This got the attention of the mainstream media and lo and behold it became a worldwide scandal.
Eventually the drama cooled off and Noel was allowed back in school to graduate. He was interviewed by several TV stations and newspapers and claims he only did gay porn for the money so he could help out his single mom.
